What are the aims of
IBF/07?
IBF/07 is an international industrial forum,
a meeting-place for future partners in the
ITER project: industrialists, research laboratories,
Euratom associations and project governance
representatives.
IBF/07 has four objectives:
|
- Establishing contacts between contractors,
manufacturers and other actors of the
ITER project, via the organization
of business meetings, thematic workshops
and an industrial exhibition
- Disseminate the latest information
about the progress of the project and
future calls for tender by a series
of conferences by senior ITER management
- Present an industrial vision of the
technological challenges for ITER,
during the thematic workshops structured
around the principal components and systems
of the installation
- Promote exchanges between contractors,
manufacturers and fusion scientists for
ITER : specific technical issues (plasma
wall components, blanket, vacuum vessel,
safety
) will be addressed during
the industrial conference and the sessions
of the ICFRM 13. The industrial Forum
ITER is organized in synergy with the
ICFRM for which many scientists from the
fusion community will be present.

ITER Project
ITER - the world's leading
international scientific co-operation
project. The goal is to confirm the
possibility of producing electricity
from fusion energy. This challenge
has brought together seven partners
representing more than half the world's
population: China, the United States,
the Russian Federation, India, Japan,
the Republic of Korea, and the European
Union. The construction site is at
Cadarache in the South of France.
The cost of the project is €4.7
billion for the construction (2007-2016)
and €4.8 billion for the operation
of the device (2016-2036).
